Will the world comes to an end in 21st December, 2012?
Will some ancient prophecy stating that a comet will hit the Earth in 2012 and wipe out all of humanity?
According to the Mayan prophecy...
The astronomical calendar of the Maya is counting down and it runs out on December 21st, 2012. On this day, there will be a cosmic alignment between the Sun, the Earth, and the center of the Milky Way Galaxy resulting in some sort of gravitational disaster, the Earth's magnetic field will flip resulting in cosmic radiation killing us all, a massive solar flare will shoot out of the Sun and burn the Earth to a crisp, and we will be struck by a massive planet from the outer solar system causing mass destruction. According to these rumors, no matter how you see it, we're completely toast!
If you believe, you are probably the kind of person that doesn't do much research.
Why?
Because the world is not gonna end on 21st December, 2012.
Why?
Fact 1:
The Maya long count calendar does not "end" on December 21st, 2012. It simply cycles to the calendar's start date, meaning the date is gonna restart all over. The Maya also never prophecied that any disasters would befall humans or Earth on this date.
Fact 2:
The claims that there will be some sort of alignment between the Sun, the Earth, and the Galactic Center are TRUE! But there are nothing special about it because this alignment happens every year.
Fact 3:
The Earth's magnetic field takes thousands of years to reverse, NOT 1 day. Even if it were to flip on December 21st, 2012, it is unlikely it will have any direct negative effect on Humans other than the compasses not working.
Fact 4:
The claims that a planet, or comet will come in from the outer solar system and strike the Earth on this date are extremely low. The ratio is 1 in a hundred thousand low.
Fact 5:
Solar flare will NOT hit the Earth because our magnetosphere and atmosphere protect us from most solar activity. At the worst, only a few satellites may be damaged, not the Humans on the ground.

You are absolutely right, that there is no astronomical reason for disasters in 2012. But the movie 2012 is just entertainment anyway. I am sure the producers of the movie know there is no truth to the hype.
The public is fascinated with end-time disaster prophecies and Hollywood and the TV industry are milking that fascination for all its worth. But as I point out in my blog, they leave something important out. They sometimes quote the Bible, and the Bible really does predict disasters in our lifetimes, but they leave out the REASON for these disasters that the Bible gives. According to the Bible, these disasters are a punishment for the sins of man designed by God to bring man to repentance and conversion for our long-term good. But Hollywood has never been a fan of the concept of repentance.
I'm pretty sure you are right to a certain extent.
I'm no fan of Christians or Bible, but I'm not a hater of them too.
My cousin is a Christian and I do visit Church with him when I stay over at his place.
I do read up on stuff inside the Bible and I personally feel that SOME might be true.
No offense but that is how I perceive things :)
